Tonight is THE night. The contractors have finished their part inside the storefront. Tomorrow we go in to begin cleaning and painting and moving in! It's exciting. It's exhausting. But it's incredibly rewarding!
This place is going to be a dream come true! Spoken into existence! Birthed in sweat, blood, tears, and most of all overcoming fears! I've had this dream for years- and this isn't even the end of it. I made an attempt to bring it to fruition on my own about 5 years ago and it did not turn out well. In fact, it set me back some. On the upside, I learned a lot of what NOT to do :) This time, back in January, it was like God opened the heavens and said, "NOW is the time." I know not everyone believes in God, but I do. I talk to Him, I try my best to listen to Him. And suddenly it was like light beginning to shine from my insides and radiate out- I couldn't contain it.
The first members of this awesome team- about 10 of them- did not stick with it, for various reasons. But on the way, I feel, God led me to a new family- an incredibly talented team of artists who share the same dream- and who really want to work together. That's so important! Together with one another, with me, and with our customers. (some whom, I have a feeling, may also become extended members of this family.)
I have worked hard to build Inspired Inside Southern Art, but so has every single artist/team member that are a part of it. Some of you know that my life has not been "fun" or "easy- to put it mildly. But without all of it, I wouldn't be the person I am today. I might not be celebrating this dream with you- with Aiken! Now, all we have left to do is continue to work from the inspiration that is inside each one of us and come up with ways to share it with the world- by combining our heads, maintaining the terrific communication that we've built up, encouraging one another as we have, and going forward- unafraid to express or try bold and new ideas without harsh judgement!
As for tonight, I could not be any more prepared than I am at this moment.....to paint the walls tomorrow ;) =D
